Who may use the Information Center?
Anybody may use the Information Center; it is open to the students, all academic and administrative staff and the public. Besides, Information Center materials can only be borrowed by the university students and the university staff. Outside users do not have borrowing rights but they can copy library material at the Photocopy Center
How Can I Borrow Library Materials?
All SDU staff and students are eligible to borrow books from the library Collection. All users must present a SDU ID card, with a current year validation for registration in order to borrow books.
Academic/administrative staff and students can borrow materials from the collection according to the type and the loan period of the source. Borrowed items must be returned directly to the Circulation Desk.
The borrowing and renewal of library materials must be done by the relevant user him or herself, However, items may be returned to the Library by another person.
How Can I Search The Library Resources?
The library catalog can be searched by visiting the Online Catalog Searching web page or using the "OPAC" terminals located on each floor of the Library. The catalog can be searched by author, title, subject, series, etc.
As a member of the Library, how many items may i borrow?
Undergraduate students may borrow 5 books for 21 days.
Master and PHD Students may borrow up to 10 books for 21 days.
SDU Administrative staff may borrow up to 10 books for 21 days.
SDU Academic staff may borrow up to 20 books for 30 days.
Can I Borrow All Library Materials?
No, Newspapers, Periodicals, Theses, Rare Books, Audio-Visual Materials and Referance collection can not be borrowed.
What are the library fines for overdue items?
Late return of Information center material will incur fines. Borrowing services shall not be available until the fine is paid.
What happens if I lose the Material?
In the case of loss of a material, the user must provide the same edition of the lost material, otherwise the user will be obliged to pay its replacement value plus 200% penalty.
How Can I Use The Periodicals?
All periodicals are listed on the Information Center website. Current issues of printed periodicals are located in Current Periodicals Section in the ground floor of the library. Bound Journals are located in the basement floor of the library. Many periodicals are also available online. Periodicals can not be borrowed but users can photocopy an article from an issue of a journal.
